Privacy
We care about your privacy. Fernkite is built so that your games stay yours: they live on your own computer, and we collect only what we need to make Fernkite work and get better. We never sell your information or use it for advertising.
What we collect
- Your Fernkite account, when you sign in: your email address and name, from Google, GitHub or the code we email you, your plan, and when you last signed in. We never see your Google or GitHub password.
- Session data, only if you agree to share it: what you ask Fernkite, what it does in response and how you use the studio, so we can see where it gets things wrong and fix it. You can turn this off on the home screen at any time.
- Basic usage information, such as Fernkite's version, your operating system, which features you use and how long things take, not tied to your name.
- Error reports when something goes wrong.
- Feedback you send us, and your email if you choose to give it.
- Games you share, which anyone with the link can play until you or we take them down.
Who handles it
- Your AI provider (Anthropic, OpenAI or Cursor) receives your messages and the parts of your game it works on, under your own account and their privacy policy. We never see your login.
- Service providers that work for us: speech-to-text when you dictate, signing you in to your Fernkite account (WorkOS), hosting this site, your account and online play, storing session data, feedback and shared games, and error monitoring. They use your information only to provide those services to us.
Why we're allowed to use it
We use your account information to provide Fernkite to you: to know who you are, which plan you have, and to contact you about your account. We use session data because you agreed to share it, and you can withdraw that at any time by turning it off. We use usage information and error reports because we have a legitimate interest in keeping Fernkite working, and feedback and shared games because you chose to send them.
Where it's stored
Our service providers and your AI provider may store and process your information outside your country, including in the United States. When they do, we rely on the safeguards they provide for international transfers.
How long we keep it
We keep session data, feedback and error reports for up to two years, then delete them. Usage counts with nothing that points back to you may be kept longer. Your account is kept while you have one, and deleted when you ask us to close it. Shared games stay up until you or we take them down. You can ask us to delete anything at any time.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. To do any of this, write to us from your account's email address, or with roughly when you used Fernkite, or the link to a shared game, and we'll take care of it. If you're not happy with how we handle your information, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Fernkite isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
